Through DC702 and C2Society, I have been able to contribute to DEF CON through contests, workshops, and volunteering. I have hosted and been the lead instructor for two DEF CON workshops. These workshops were CTF-styled workshops to help people get more involved in capture the flag events and appreciate the value they bring to cybersecurity professionals. Additionally, I have volunteered for the Social Engineering Village, Red Team Village, and the Lockpicking Village through TOOOL. In 2023, I was also heavily involved in hosting the "Cube" contest.
In 2023, I presented "The Song Must Go On" on attacking smart Jukeboxes with the Flipper Zero. This talk was focused on how something seemingly harmless could be leveraged to target individuals armed with curiosity and malicious intent. This talk went through the process of exploiting the Jukebox, how it could be used to attack people, and insight into how we as an industry need to consider the implications of various features as hacking tools ("toys") become more accessible..
I presented "Full Stack for Hackers" in 2023--a talk on how hackers can leverage the skill-sets typically associated with full-stack developers. This talk starts with the various layers that "hackers" typically interact with, what technologies we may benefit from being familiar with, and how these skill-sets deviate from that of a traditional full-stack developer. This presentation initially started out as a workshop hosted for the Air Force and evolved into a conference talk.
During the Q4 2023 Chapter Meeting, I presented on the Adversarial Mindset. This talk was a discussion on what having an adversarial mindset is, how it can be applied to our professional lives, implications of the mindset within various engagements, and how biases can impact our ability to think adversarially. This presentation attempted to bring a new perspective on a topic many organizations are trying to address.
In the past, I have spoken on various topics in a variety of settings. This includes interviews on blockchain ("theCube" @ HoshoCon 20218), workshops for organizations such as the Air Force, FBI, DoE, local police, and more, company trainings on security, presentations for local colleges, and talks at DEF CON villages (e.g., Lockpicking Village).
